Ravechi Mata Temple - Kutch, Gujarat

The following information is provided by the organizers of Ram Katha at Ravechi, Kutch. General Dormitory stay for limited shrotaas shall be provided as there are no Hotels around the katha sthal, shrotaas are requested to make their stay arrangements on their own incase personal rooms are required.

Katha Location

Ram Katha prasad will be served daily to all guests, including Lunch and Dinner.

All are welcome and invited to have prasad.

Accommodation

  • Limited number of General Dormitory accommodation will be available, which shall be provided on first come first serve basis. Since there are no Hotels/Resorts in the nearby vicinity, getting a personal room shall not be possible.
  • ⁠Shrotaas looking for personal rooms shall have to make their stay arrangements on their own.

General Information

Ravechi Mata Temple

  • There is a temple dedicated to Ravechi Mata on the bank of a large pond, built in 1821 (Samvat 1878) at a cost of (24,000 Kutch koris). The temple is 30 feet long 17 broad and 54 high with two domed porches, the first 7 feet square and the second 14 feet by 7, and a shrine 14 feet by 13 raised on a platform 44 feet high. In the shrine, smeared with red paint and butter and with five other images at her side, is a large statue of Ravechi Mata and opposite it Naklank or the Horse incarnation standing on three legs on a pillar. The goddess is highly venerated by the people of Vagad region of Kutch. Out of the temple income about 7500 cows are maintained. The old temple, a range of finely carved nine-domed shrines with porches built by the Pandavas. At the corner of the courtyard wall is a memorial stone with an inscription dated 1271 (Samvat 1328).

Temperature

  • The climate in Ravechi during March can be summarized as hot. It is a start of Summer season. Area is surrounded one of the finest desserts of the world, hence the climate shall be considered as Dry and Hot, but the good part is that post Sunset till Early Mornings the weather becomes cooler and nice.
