MADHAPAR – KUTCH
- Madhapar, located just a few kilometres from Bhuj in Kutch, is a historic village founded in the 15th century. Deeply rooted in Sanatan Dharma, Madhapar has preserved its spiritual traditions, cultural values, and strong sense of community for generations. The village has long been a centre of devotion, where faith and service form the foundation of daily life.
- The Sanatani heritage of Madhapar is reflected in its ancient temples and sacred spaces. Prominent among them are the Dhingeshwar Mahadev Mandir dedicated to Lord Shiva and the Sanatan Shri Raghunathji Mandir, dedicated to Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. The Yaksh Mandir, dedicated to the 72 Jakh deities of Kutch folklore, also holds spiritual significance. Festivals such as Ram Navami, Navratri, Janmashtami, and Mahashivratri are celebrated with great devotion, bringing the entire community together in prayer, bhajan, and seva.
- Madhapar is also remembered for its extraordinary spirit of courage and patriotism during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. When the runway at Bhuj Air Force Station was severely damaged during aerial attacks, the women of Madhapar and other surrounding villages volunteered to help rebuild it.
- Working tirelessly under the threat of further bombing, they assisted in restoring the airstrip within a short period, enabling the Indian Air Force to resume operations. This act of bravery remains a proud chapter in the village’s history.
- During the Kargil War, many farmers from Madhapar also selflessly supported the nation by providing tractors and transport assistance to Indian Army personnel.
- Today, Madhapar continues to uphold its traditions of dharma, unity, and service through its spiritual atmosphere, temple culture, and deep-rooted faith.
